I just purchased a new 2022 530i xDrive Sedan (love it !) and I want to get a newer replacement for my 2006 Z4. I am disappointed to see that most of the
newer BMW 2 door convertibles do not have a manual transmission. Would appreciate all thoughts and recommendations for the best model from 2015-2019

I think you’re looking for a G14 8 Series, 840i
Only thing is it doesn’t come with a manual transmission - only an 8 speed auto trans.

I’ll play heretic here and say wait for the Supra with the 6 speed manual.😱
If I really needed a newer manual roadster I would be shopping for E89's but then again, I don't see what's wrong with a 2006 Z4 if it meets the criteria and is fun to drive. Newer isn't always better and the roadsters especially have become progressively more disconnected to drive. It would seem to me that the first gen Z4 plus the 5 series would provide a nice variety - the 530i for daily driving, long distance trips etc, and the more connected Z4 for weekend fun.
FWIW all BMW roadsters have been available with manuals... the current generation though the manual is only available on the 20i trim level for now (though this lowly 2.0 does make 50n-m more torque than the 3.0 in the 2006 Z4)

Thanks for the feedback. I agree the 5 Series and the older Z4 are a nice combo but I would like to get the newer Live Cockpit display / GPS / Apple Carplay technology and the retractable hard top. I have driven the 2.0 and it doesn't have the acceleration / power of the 3.0. When was manual transmission discontinued other than 20i trim ? Thanks
