Used Steering Rack for 2013 550i

I recently replaced an electric steering rack in my 2013 BMW 550i and found that the electromechanical steering gear (EPS) is unable to be commissioned. They say that the used steering rack is programmed to the VIN of the vehicle it came out of. Is there a way to have it programmed/wiped for my vehicle or am I destined to buy a brand new steering rack from the dealership since I cannot have it programmed?
