    2009 X6 30d M57N2 Non Starter Injector Crankshaft Camshaft Test Values

    Hi all,

    Have a 2009 X6 30d with an M57N2 (Piezo Injectors), complete non start, bought spares repair, been off the road for 5 years and no diagnostic history that helps. It had a few CAS sync issues, but re-synced with Verus Edge and KTS, all fine now no fault codes reported in either CAS nor DME, however has no rail pressure upon cranking. Removed glow plugs and done a compression pressure test, all fine circa 18bar each. Low pressure fuel pump operates fine, and upon cranking, but still no fuel pressure at the rail. Engine turns over fine by hand, and presume no mechanical, compression nor timing faults at play. Done a leak back test on cranking and no6 injector had excessive leak back (even just on pump prime function), so replacement ordered, however just doing further tests, and have noted injectors 3 and 5 to have an internal resistance of 175k but both had resistance leak to the casings of 1.2M ohms and the other of 8.0M ohms (all other injectors were 181k and no leak).
    Heads up, the parts replaced so far are, fuel filter, air filter, oil filter and engine oil (sat for 5 years) so changed in prep for first start, and 6x glowplugs. Always try and go for bosch parts for these, so all filters and glow plugs were Bosch.

    Questions;
    Would the resistance leak on injectors 3 and 5 be sufficient to short circuit the ECU supply for the rest of the cylinders? (Strange how no fault code for this?)

    Testing the Crank and Cam angle sensors just for piece of mind, but don’t have any resistance data, does anyone have the BMW spec for these? Or as these are hall effects are we just testing voltage out traces on a scope or base 5v to 0v switching on a DMM? (Though not overly concerned as getting circa 140 rpm during cranking on live data when reading rail pressure, so some signal is there)

    Think I’m going to scope the Crank, Cam, Pressure Reg and Injectors.

    Any other suggested tests to do would be much appreciated?

    Thanks for reading, any advice gratefully appreciated.

    Cheers, Steve
