I just picked up a 2001 530i m sport in anthracite. Car has great bones, a good interior and a great color. Out will go the M54 and in it place will be an Aussie powered Ford Barra attached to a 4l80e, most likely managed by a Haltech Nexus, but possibly a FuelTech FT 600. A G42 1450 will cram enough air into this this to eventually put down 1000rwhp.
I have the motor and most of it’s parts. It’ll go to the machine shop soon and then I’ll build it. I also have the trans which I will most likely build myself with a Jakes stage 3 kit and his D3 transbrake.
This is certainly a long term project for me to build with my son, so updates will be few and far between for a bit. Wish me luck fellas

Small update as I continue to gather parts and research oem bmw systems.
No more 4l80e. It’s a great trans but it’s becoming obsolete an parts are getting harder to get. New trans, gs7d36sg DCT. I already have the adapter and a single mass flywheel, plus it’ll be nice to still have a bmw trans.
I have ironed out the ECU as well. MaxxEcu has the oem e39 can protocol built in AND can control the e9x series DCT trans. This ecu is a no brainer.
I think I have most of the wiring figured out with the exception of the EWS. If anybody has some insight into that I’d appreciate it.
