So I have this small primary tube header that is an unmarked Stahl header, after confirming it's from their cast with them. I currently have stock exhaust manifold & catalytic converter on now (I'm in CA). My plan to run the header is to have two manifolds that are bolt on/bolt off, so I would bolt on the stock exhaust manifold and cat, smog car, then remove and swap to the header that I need to fabricate. I currently have the header cut in the picture. What would you guys recco I build it so it's an easy swap? Ditch the cat and just get a flange that meets up? I have access to another whole manifold and cat other than what's in the picture so essentially what you see can all be chopped up and re-worked.I was thinking I could just cut the exhaust pipe in the picture where it currently meets the header at the kink and weld up there? I also have to re-rout the o2 sensor on the stahl version. Or just run the header with a cat and install heatshield and play dumb.. Thoughts?

I would weld a v-band clamp on, that way you don't have to worry too much about having it perfectly align. It's what I did on my stahl header, but I haven't built the rest of the exhaust yet. BTW I also have an unmarked stahl header, what size diameter tubing does your have?
This is my experience with my E21 in Southern California, but I've had the Top End Performance (TEP) shorty header for the last 2 SMOG tests and they never said anything. Not sure how strict they are up in SF though.
