I'm hoping this will be an easy question for someone to answer. I have a 1994 E36 325i. This past weekend I removed the front driver seat to repair the incline motor gear. To remove the seat, I disconnected the wiring coming from a single black cable coming through the floor. There are two connectors coming from this wire grouping. One set, with a white colored 10 or 12 prong connector is used to power the seat motors (not important or very relevant to this post) - the other set of wires (3-pronged black connector) is the question - - it appears that this wire set goes up into the seat which possibly is a seat occupancy sensor of some sort. I honestly do not have any idea what that set of 3 wires connects to - and thus my problem, as I broke the connector in trying to dismantle. So my question is, what exactly does that set of wires do? I've reinstalled the seat and everything seems to be working - there are no visible dashboard warnings. I'm fearful that this is some sort of sensor which would control air-bag deployment, however, I was under the assumption that the driver side does not have any seat occupancy sensor - - so what does this wire do, and should I be concerned by not having reconnected it?
Hi,
I'd suggest asking in the E36 section as this one is for car audio and associated electronics.
There's perhaps more knowledgeable members there able to better help you on that sub section
Cheers, Dennis!
