1 "Proper reset" might require a stop at the dealer, or some time on a diagnostic device operated by a knowledgeable person. Not having any information as to your state of such knowledge, I can't go there.
2 Five years plus for a battery isn't a short life, depending on the short/long trips you take, the temperature climate youlive in, and probably a few other things I can't think of right now. Suggest you go to a place that sells batteries and ask them to load test your battery. Just a voltmeter across the terminals won't prove anything, because what you need to start is amps, not volts.
