    M62b44 SC, BMW 516

    Hello

My Vortech needs some updating after many years, it is V2 Si and 79mm (3,1) inducer. Thinking 82 mm (3,25) or 87 mm (8,42).
Engine is stock(ish) M62b44 and that is good way to stay if possible. Have other engine on garages floor and one block packup.

Somebody done this yet or what thoughts or ideas?

This is old video, last year same time (11,3) but better topspeed, 209 km/h. Target is stock bottom end and 10 sec time on 1/4.

Interesting to see you are still developing your car. Mine is also being doveloped currently being finally fitted with a much needed standalone ecu, and custom headers. It used to pull really hard at 16psi on e85, but you could feel it being strangled a little. Im also going to try some altered exhaust cam timing advancing it by 6deg similar to alpina cam timing. It currently runs 340rwkw (455rwhp) @ 16psi on e85. On standard RON98 could only get around 308rwkw (413rwhp). Hopefully with the headers and stanalone it will be free to make some serious power.

Im surprised you have blown up 3x 420g transmissions. Perhaps they dont like drag racing with sticky tyres or you are too brutal with it haha. Im a little rusty with upgrades, but the box with 37 in the prefix is the go-to one for a manual. Perhaps retrofitting a 7spd dual clutch may be a better solution with the PMC adaptor

Last weekend went one more 420g, second gear needs to be stronger.

yes the first to 2nd change needs to be delicate. Hard when drag racing. Test fitted headers, and it sounded awesome, but i need to resolve the slipping clutch especially when cold so it's in the shop again, and now have the headers ceramic coated inside and out for heat management purposes. It seems the car is in the shop having work done more than its on the road driving. Hopefully when I get it back in october/november it will be on the road for some time to enjoy it.

How far developed is yours now. Last time it was running 1.3bar and tearing up the dragstrip in the 11sec, which is nice for a manual

2 420g lost second gear and one 420g lost third gear. So 3 five speeds ZF and seven 420g Getrag..

Now season is over and waiting bellhouse T56 Magnum

Now doing two M62b44, just in case and searching one more so can do once again M60b44 with portet heads and better cams and cranks

Next summer should be easy to drive low 10 sec .. jep

bugger. Should be stronger with this box, but the ratios are pretty lousy.
