+1 buy back from insurance and part out. You could probably make a chunk of profit.
100k miles S52's go for around $5k now from what I've incidentally seen.
It's a no brainier to buy it back.
Couldn't agree more.
Before electric cars were a big thing, I used to have this conversation with some friends who would say "I don't understand why you want a manual - the new automatics have faster 0-60 times" and I remember it being so impossible to explain to some of them that it's just g@dd@mn fun to drive a manual!
Zed's dead baby. Zed's dead.
I'm with you there. My M is noisy and bumpy and requires more work to drive the stick, and I love every minute in it. I'm no Porsche expert, but I think they offered some model in auto only, but later had to offer a stick because customers demanded it. I will hold onto it even after our other car is electric or hybrid. But somebody will convert a Z3 to electric. It's a logical move.
The talk is of S52 engine only for part out I think. Not entire car. Even in US running M roadster not 5k US $ cheap. Part out of this broken car easy 10k US $ if engine trans interior back frame back control arms not damaged. But part out needs time storage and much work.
I don't have the time nor patience to part this thing out. Who wants it? Engine run, suspension parts look fine, and interior, except for the glove box which was removed to swap in a euro glove box, is in great shape.
PM me and I'll send you pics.

It's already been done. I'm not a proponent of going EV, but if we ever have to change our cars over to EV in the future, we may need to perform a similar process shown here.
