1988 325 with a 1987 325i swap, full wiring harness and ECU. Car randomly shut off, let it sit for a minute and it started but was barely running and I was able to limp it to my shop.
Within a year this car has had major maintenance, timing belt, everything spark related, crank sensor. Car ran for a while after that then died again. Replaced the fuel injectors and pump and the car yet again made it a week.
This time no fuel no spark. I did the bimmerworld no crank follow through and it lead me to believe the ECU was bad. IAC doesn’t turn on when the key is on. Sent me ECU off and was told it was indeed bad, but with the new one in the car I am having the same issue. Really open to ideas on what this could be. Car has no fuel and no spark.

Crank sensor is good?
Yes, new OEM and I’ve checked it. I have power to the ICV plug and when I checked it my main relay started to buzz. Ground or bad ICV?
I had a similar situation with a 86e converted to 88i engine. I followed the write up below m20b25 DME diagnostic section turned out to be a relay for the DME.
Jim Levie in the parked info.

My DME relay is new, and I’d assume it’s good because it comes on after to hit that plug with a test light.
