    E36 Overheating

I recently bought a 1998 328i. It runs well but has its issues, i got it cheap so that’s to be expected. It started overheating and i saw that the thermostat housing was cracked. I replaced the Thermostat, Housing, and Hoses. The car overheated again. Why?

Right. These cars are notorious for heating up if not bled correctly.... exactly correctly. I once bought a cheap tstat that caused problems. The fan clutch can be tested. ... Is the cooling system old? Radiator can get clogged with crap... is it clean? Takes time and patience to bleed the system... try raising the front of the car up to help get air out. Cabin air in full heat, full fan while you do it.
Lime Rock Park... the most fun you can have in a mile and a half.

Did you check the rest of the system like the water pump, radiator, fans etc?

You need to do a compression test to see if the head is damaged. Read old threads on overheating.
