    Brake MC replacement - '88 M6

    Hi All,

Looking for guidance on replacement Brake MC for my 88. I've had issues with LF/RR brakes sticking when the car is warmed up - after 15-20 minutes on the road. I've got new pads, rotors, rebuilt calipers. Same issue. Done some extensive reading and going to tackle the master cylinder next. I've read that, for several reasons, many have opted for an MC off a 12-Cyl e32 750il. Is this the way to go? If so, does someone know the specific part # I should go with?

I'm sorry if this has been covered before. I searched, but couldnt find a good thread that addressed this.

    Thanks!

An observation on previous use of the 750iL MC, unless you have upgraded the rear brakes to the e34 535/M5 ones, the reduction in pedal movement may aggravate a locking situation until you get used to it. The larger bore of the MC helps when you upgrade brakes.
I did the change years ago whrn I upgraded my 635csiA to 750 front brakes and did not have much of a learning curve, but did both changes at the same time since both needed replacing at the time. I had not yet upgraded the rears before moving up to an M6.

Appears that the 750 MC is bmw pn 34311156643

Ahh yes, good point. I did not upgrade other brake components when I did the pads/rotors/calipers. I guess I'll stick with the E24 MC. Thanks!

I would replace your lines with SS ones. Good upgrade but old lines can collapse and actually cause brakes to hang up. From the outside, the lines look fine. Well known to the E9 community. Do so before the MC replacement.

Yes, thanks. I did replace the lines at the wheels. The old ones hadn't collapsed, but I went ahead and replaced with SS lines while I was in there.
