Random motor knocks

Bought a wrecked e36 with a good motor catalytic converter got stolen. It only starts when maf sensor is unplugged and has a bad random knock by the intake manifold what could it be? I was told it was a vacume lack.

Obviously the maf is bad. The knock is most likely a misfire. Best bet is to have someone who understands the car to do repairs.

Can you upload a video of the sound? I hate to be negative, but it sounds like the good motor is not very good...
