    2006 330i E90 Race Build

Reaching out to my racing friends for some guidance on the BMW race car build. Iíve got the car totally gutted and am now looking at removing wiring. My question is can I just cut and cap the seat wiring, door wiring and all the satellite and radio amp wiring, Idrive wiring?

I donít want to undo the entire wiring harness and trace back to the fuse box which would be hours of miserable work.

Cut, cap and remove fuses to eliminate power is what Iím thinking. Will that work?

Other suggestions and things to be wary of?

Is there any risk of somehow triggering security stuff and immobilizing the car?

Havenít cut anything yet and man do I have a boatload of wiring I want gone!

I'm always pretty methodical when I'm cutting/removing wire. I create a check list of stuff to confirm still works before I cut and pull. I unplug sockets first, then run my check list, etc. Checklist is something like; start car, turn on/off all the stuff I expect to work (lights, wipers, etc), look for idiot lights and/or error codes, etc. Then, I'll cut the wires, and redo my check list, then I'll pull the wires and remove the stuff, and re-run check list. A process will save you in the long run.

Still, the above is not idiot proof. You can f-stuff-up and it not show up without driving the car.

I’m the same, everything is carefully labeled.

Since this is a Touring 3 SCCA BUILD, I can only remove wiring for the seats, heat and AC, audio, dome lights, and front window. Very stock class.

Is there much risk of cutting these harnesses out? I think ok,but polling to see what others have done.

    Yes there is risk.

E90 has several BUS systems - LIN, K-CAN, PT-CAN. If you remove a module with a terminating resistor you might have a bad time. Best is to get a wiring diagram and look into it.

Are any of the mentioned items for removal including a terminating resistor? I’ve not had luck finding detailed diagrams on real oem or other standard sites and searches.
