WTB 530i or 540i, preferably near Philadelphia

    --EDITED MY POST--

I'm interested in buying an E34 v8. Primarily interested in a 540i but would consider a 530i for the right price. I sold my RS4 and I'm very sad without a car haha

    Requirements:
    - Manual
    - Clean title
    - Not super rusty

    Preferences:
    - Genuine HE53 540i. I'm not super interested in paying more for the m sport
    - Blue/Green/Black
    - Black interior. Really not a fan of tan/brown
    - The closer to philly the better

RS4’s are crappy track cars, way too hard on front tires. That being said, an E34 540i isn’t a track car either. The 540i has all the expenses of an M5 but nowhere near the power. Get an M5.

Great BMW street/track cars without excessive expenses are 335is, M235i’s and M240i’s, all can be taken to a track event and are great right out of the box, just tires and brake pads and HPDE them all day. E46 M3 also works great.

$6k will get you some parts but not a complete BMW, or at most a worn out rusty beater. You just sold an RS4…

I can't really edit the title now but I would spend more than 6k on a nice e34 540i. If we're talking about an e34 m5 I'm simply not interested. I don't like the way inline six engines sound (including the e46 m3). Also, I had a lien on the rs4 so while I have a decent amount to spend on a car I don't want to spend 20k.

Toughest part about the e34 is that they are notorious for rust on the lower portion of the front fenders just aft of the front wheels. They also had this dumb trim piece on the bottoms of the doors which collects water and rusts. Given that you are in the Northeast, you will more than likely need to expand your search to the south and southwest to find something that isn't rusty.

I saw this 530iM on CL in Westport, CT. No affiliation, etc.

I spent 9 great years driving an M60-powered E34 touring, including about a dozen track days. Good luck with your quest.

I actually test drove a local 530i in that exact spec. I liked it, but yea I'd like a 540i/6 even better.
