Light turbo M42

Hello,I’m a newcomer here,I have a 1996 318is for some months and I’m thinking to put a turbo on it.

I want a light turbo build like max 220hp,it’s my daily so it must be also a safe tuning.My budget is around 2k-2.5k,does exist any solution in that money?
I have read some turbo options like t25,k03,k04,gt28,t28.
I know that the hardest part is the ecu tuning,what else should I look for?

I am currently doing the same research and am on the hunt for a tuner who can tune for a turbo m44 on a K-data standalone ECU. There are kits for the M42/M44 for around 1,650$USD on Laurent Motors but you will still need the fueling system and engine management for tuning.
