e36 - barra swap??

Hi All,

Recently I've picked up a 1998 e36 318is and I'm thinking its gonna be a good base for a bit of a street driven weapon. I've got a budget of about 20k, and im looking at what options i have in terms of engine swaps. with an end goal being that i want to be in the 300rwkw ball park.

I was originally Looking at putting a turbo barra into my e36 coupe to replace the gutless 4 banger in there at the moment. Im from Australia and can pick up a old barra engine 3k mark. Was just wondering if anyone else knows of any e36 barras kicking about. I've done a bit of research and it seems a bit of massaging of the firewall, spacing the subframe and making up some mounts and it should just fit. And at the end of the day if it doesn't fit ill just put the barra in my Nissan patrol instead.

Any other ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated

I had to look up what a Barra was. That is kind of cool and unique. If it's too big of an engine, an N54 would be a great option too, which would easily give you that power output.
