Friends, i'm a BMW 2002 guy and never owned a E36 M3. However, a long time ago I bought a complete Longblock e36 M3 engine and transmission from my friend who wrecked his car and parted it out. I bought it thinking oneday I will install it in my 3.0cs but looks like that will never happen.
My question to you guys is I dont remeber if it was a S50 or S52 engine.
I see a number on the sticker that says
WBSBG9325VEY74899
Thanks for all your help.
S52

You can pull last known mileage data with a carfax report. www.gooffood.com is the cheapest for this.
Thanks for this wealth of info friends. I'm so sorry as i'm clueless when it comes to anything newer than E30s. Even then i'm dumb.
The car was in a wreck when I bought the engine and transmission from him back in 2011.
It has been sitting on the engine stand the same way it was delivered to me. During the wreck the front timing cover got busted and thats the way it still sits. Car had less than 87k miles from what I remember.
The manual transmission is still attached to the engine and still in good shape.
It would be great help if you guys can tell me how much I should price them for in unknown condition.

Ok the carfax says the car was wrecked with 85k miles in 2004. How sad. It surely is a great engine. Wish I had room to keep it.

Just the engine price?
Well, it's probably worth more if you fixed the timing cover than not.
As for what it's worth? No idea, but you could check Car-part and have a look see.. But as a guess? A complete running S52 with low mileage, (ish) with all the accessories and the ECU and clutch and tranny?$6500? Probably more...
No matter where you go, there you are...
I would sell the engine and transmission together for $3500 at this point.
