Front bumper damaged, MTECH time? Pics inside

So I'm minding my own business driving on I-405 just before exit 2 to 167 today (heading to PR to watch some double regional action) and a piece of metal a little larger than a license plate comes from underneath a van in front of me (he was 2 or so car lengths ahead in the lane to my left) and nails my front bumper. I swerved a bit as I saw it coming but it was much too late.

It must have been pretty heavy b/c I could feel it in the floor board when it hit. It disabled my driver side fog light (I think it may have broken the filament but its hard to tell just yet) but did not break the light itself.

The front bumper has several scratches as well as a quarter sized chunk taken out. A piece of the front grill slat is also missing as well as cracked in another place. This doubly sucks too b/c I have Stoneguard on the bumper which will have to be replaced as well.

I'll be calling the Insurance company today to report it. I guess my question is about the MTECH front bumper. There are about a million threads on here (yes I've searched) about it. What I can't seem to find is if the 2003 330Ci is the same bumper as the 330i one?

Are these the correct part numbers in this link for the kit? http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...h+front+bumper

Any other help would be appreciated. If you could tell me who to speak to when I order it that would be great too.

Here are some pics of the carnage:

    What's your deductible?

Go to your dealer, get a "high" estimate, tell them they will do the work if you get insurance money; then, send it to your insurance, get the check--and buy your mtech...

Install yourself--you'll save major money for whatever rocks your boat...

Actually, I think the bumper you're talking about is called M-Tech2 . That's what Pacific BMW told me it was called.

Now, that's the "bestest" deductible to have in your situation!

But, you're probably paying big $ for insurance--get the new bumper

Not really, $160 per month for 2 cars.

No, The Coupe Mtech II and Sedan Mtech II Front Bumpers are totally different. The Mtech II for the Sedan has front bumper moldings while the coupe doesnt. If you get the "euro" mtech II front bumper for a coupe, it doesnt have the front reflectors on them.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably order it tomorrow from Pacific. Was quoted $424.14 and $125 shipping to Seattle. That is w/ fogs and brake ducts as well.

if you don't want reflectors, then the last three digits of the bumper code is 057 instead of 060.

If you keep the reflectors get the clear ones and change your amber bulb in the corner light so you do not get the egg yolk affect. I love Steel Gray but the amber looks terrible on it. All clear corners including reflectors totally finished the look.

Sedans have a black trim all the way around the car (unless the owner had it painted) and are easy to spot. Its how you can tell if the BMW up in front of you is a coupe or a sedan easily.

That sucks....I would second the mtech...with club sport splitters.

I know how you feel...3 weeks after my wife got her e46 she was hit by a semi tread that was thown up be the truck in front of her and it destroyed her hood completely. I took it to the best shop I could find (had all sorts of exotics in the parking lot) and now she has lots of chips because they put such a light coat of paint on it...wouldn't do anything about the chips either.

I will update the thread in a few days. All parts have been ordered for the Mtech front w/ fogs and ducts. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.
