I just bought a 2001 z3 2.5 I really don't know anything about it, could you guys educate me on my car, and point me in the right direction for modding it. I'm looking for more horsepower and torque.
Are there any engine swaps that can be done with this car?
Thanks,
Nik
pics please, and yes, you can drop a new engine into it. possibly a s52
Congrats and yes post pics. Check out the Z3 forum also.

Congrats. post pics when you get time.
They are very moddable. If you want to do an engine swap, look into S50 or S52 swaps (3.0 and 3.2 M3 engines). Very easy swap, but a bit expensive...
I say just FI the 2.5L
i owm a 93 325 i and i want to drop a 97 m3 engine in it i have the engine and the wiring any advise
If you guys check out the main page of this message board you'll find individual fora devoted to your models plus a few others such as for discussions of Forced induction.
There is a lot to be learned here, many of your questions have already been discussed at length.
The search function is very easy to use. Happy exploring!
Some ladies like a hand-held. I prefer to drive mine.
Move and a bump
Congrats on the new aquisition!!!

Indeed! As we all know,
Mondo congrats on your new Z!
Doing my small part to bring a bit of class to a world woefully lacking in it:
Why did you buy the car without researching future mods first? I have done that once before, and I regret it. Never again.
Anyway, congrats, and again, pics
That 2.5 is a double Vanos that is NOT mod friendly, unless you go FI. Sorry dude.

As Hugo mentioned, the dual V engines are a royal pain in the BUTT to modify cheaply. You could always drop in a single V engine, say the 2.8L and FI the bad boy and give Hugo a run...
Congrats again!

We welcome you, but several of us are scratching our heads wondering why these questions didn't come up BEFORE you purchased the car. Some cars actually come from the factory with more HP and torque.Originally Posted by Shinobu

Again Nik, welcome.
