I have two pieces with the foam layer gone... any ideas how to rejoin them?
I tried to upload an image but the form says I am over the quota by the specific file size and I see no way to delete old uploads...
You might have some luck using an epoxy or super glue. But you might be better off finding one at a junkyard or part-out.
Most likely the quota by specific file size is your image you're trying to upload is too large for the forum to handle, not in regards to how much you have uploaded.

try a free upload site and post the link here, maybe a software system problem with pic uploading, try later again. Or the file is too large

so the advanced posting image upload worked in the reply but not in the OP.. file was only 427kb was that really too large for a start thread?
anyway these are ASC cut out the wood surface is in fine condition without any cracks so I'd like to use it as the one in my 540 was damaged during some work recently when I had the clutch, flywheel and slave replaced.. a corner section of the wood must have been caught as he tried to push it back down reassembling and flaked off.
i have to believe something fine and light as the original foam layer should be available from some source and some spray on adhesiveness on either side may be adequate as its not subject to much activity when in place.

After re-veneering mine, I used hardware store hot glue to join them. Should hold up in the car and is reversible if I need to separate them.
seems to be a forum software problem, I informed the admin, here next claim: exceeds-forum-quota..restrictions-on-uploading-photos-is-back https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...photos-is-back

I am imagining a repair similar to the door card inserts. On mine I removed the vinyl and scrubbed the rotten foam away then first glued a layer of felt then the vinyl. Done the same with sunroof switch covers. It gives some cushion like the foam did.
