E30 chime module/speaker

I’ve owned my E30 for 17 years, the start-up chime has never worked. I need help….what do I look for: relay, wire, speaker, etc?

"Start up chime"? I get a chime with the door open and when the temp gets to 37 degrees. That chime is a black box (2x3 maybe) mounted to the back side of the trim panel that covers the pedal mechanism and the steering column.

Yeah, not sure what you mean by “start up chime”. Are you referring to the alert chime that lets you know if the door is ajar or other warning chimes? Do you have the black box attached to the lower trim below the steering column? That’s the chime speaker.

Likely disconnected at some time due to the annoying sound.
