Hi All,
My emergency brake shroud and a few other pieces of trim have the flexibility of Dead Sea scrolls. Open to ideas how to soften them up. Thanks, sh

When I removed and wrapped the center console I lightly washed the boots for all leather pieces since they were dirty then dried them with a hair dryer (again lightly). After everything dried I conditioned all the leather pieces with leather cleaner ( same product we use for our Ethan Allen furniture) at least twice. I believe any good leather conditioner or restorer will work. The leather is baby soft and I did this over a year ago. Before doing it the leather felt like the skin of an alligator. I also wiped the seats down with the same product and they feel wonderful. I can't say for sure what the manufacturer is the leather cleaner is since the bottle only says Ethan Allen. I do know it is milky white and smells pretty good also. For all the plastic in the car I usually take a damp wash cloth and spray Amor all on it along with the water (mainly to dilute it since it is quite think) and wipe everything down.
At this point I'd just buy new boot. They are relatively inexpensive.

The first time I cleaned it with a leather cleaner and then used mink oil on the outside and the inside. Massaged it in real good. Back in my ball playing days I would keep my ball glove mink oiled which kept it real supple. Afterwards I use a leather conditioner. Looks good as new.
Mine looked like the face of Donatella Versace when I bought the car also.
I treated the hell out of it with leather conditioner 3 times and it got .... better. Definitely not perfect. I think there's a threshold you cross when you can only get so much flex back.

Donatella vs Dead Sea scrolls ... you win! I may have some leather oil in the chemical room. A new one might be in the cards too since it shrank a couple inches over the years. Cheers, sh
I always try restoration first. I searched for over a year for a beige leather shift boot. Finally found one and description stated it was very stiff. Two rounds of conditioner (some magic cream from an old Audi leather kit in my case) did the trick. Good as new. I tried Lexol first and it didn't really do anything.
Still a bit crunchy
