Just picked up a 2012 X3 inline 6. Looking over the engine I saw this threaded hole. Is something missing?

I believe this is correct. I just checked my 35i and it has one there also.

That threaded hole is where you would thread the emergency tow hook in order to lift the engine. Said tow hook is in the luggage area floor, port side, under the 4x12" access panel.
