Good morning every one,
As mentionned in the title of this thread, I'm planning to swap a S65B400 engine in a Z3 e36 Coupe.
I've always dreamed about this car and to have one from my own point of view, and now that I have more knowledge and a bigger budget I'd like to start the project.
Before going ham and buying everything, I'd like to work this project on CAD first, in order to have a clear view of what fits or doesn't, what needs to be modified or not, etc. I've already listed almost all the parts i'll be dealing with using websites such as RealOEM, but they only give 3D sheets and references without precise dimensions, multiple 2D views, or even 3D models.
First naiv question, is there a way to have 3D files for the parts I'd like to work with ?
If no, I'll have to draw them myself, but therefore I need more precise views as mentionned above, do you have any idea where I could get them.
I'm already experienced with CAD softwares thanks to my job, even if i'm not using them every day. Most important, I got licences for most of these softs.
Any ideas how to help me on how to start CAD process, and maybe how to structure my work with that ?
EDIT : I forgot to mention it but, in a first time I'm thinking about using the manual gearbox coming from the M3, but if I manage to work correctly and feel comfy, I might want to put the DKG gearbox in !
Thank you in advance for your help !

Unless you have a very good 3D scanner it seems to me like you'll spend more time modelling everything than just doing the swap

ye that's what I think too if I cannot find already done parts.
There is a fellow on instagram working on the swap right now, @galvantory. Sure you could ask him

Good luck. Headers will be the most difficult part of the swap.
