Sorry I ve been quiet. Can’t quite get a chance to leisure drive this with a laptop attached. Got my other car back so I will park the m3 for a second until I figure this out.
mileage is terrible I think, been keeping track of gallons to fill and driven miles. I may go back to the original o2 sensors the shop took out, I feel like it’s been much worse since. It used to take 30-40 miles for the light to come on and after the shop did their smoke test and replaced the o2 sensors (at my request) the cel came on within a few minutes of idling.
The long term fuel trim on bank two still displays zero on the foxwell live data stream, I hope the laptop actually gets a reading. The below tanks is what I ve driven since the last code clear.
    Tank one 245 miles - 15.6 gallons

    Tank two 205 miles - 15.3 gallons

Just wanted to post a follow up.. obviously this hasn’t been the fastest solution story ever, and I’m not sure I’m there yet but I do feel like I’ve eliminated just about everything. After tackling the valve cover, which apparently has a tendency of cracking and smoke testing the car several times I found a little smoke escaping between the transmission and the engine and combined with a rear main oil leak - I figured that was the only place left to find an air leak. I dropped the exhaust, leaving the manifold in place of course the three bolts holding the two pipes broke , so I proceeded to takeoff the manifolds as well. After I put the trans back on, quite a job…
The manifolds had to come off since now I had to tap out the remaining half of the curled original bolt, times six. Having the manifolds in hand I inspected them closely, and I discovered a crack in the rear manifold, which I think may explain the oxygen sensor limit exceeded at bank 2 code, which I could never get rid of. Cyl 5 misfire came up as well but maybe that was not related, I did replace the spark plug and swapped coils with no effect. But I also didn’t check codes since. Anyway, after I get the exhaust back up I ll hope for a final fix. Those curled bolts are $16 a pop. Maybe some hard steel regular hex bolts will do?

another question is regarding the exhaust studs which go into the head:
original part number is Stud M7X42 - 11121744057 which is 3.50 a pop and then there the later chassis use 11127593376 which is a m7 x 39 and it has the torx end to easily screw into the head. For 0.99 a piece. I am leaning toward the later version since i d like to save time and money.

The etorx head studs work fine but be warned that the SAP flange portions will be on there by a 3-4 threads. I have had no issues with this on numerous head jobs I have done.

I see. Maybe four of the studs can be the older original type. I see the original studs don’t have a limit point to how far they thread in. Just go till it stops?
