Swapped the solenoids and reset the codes then went for a short drive, but didn't get into much high RPM so I don't think anything really happened. I think Saturday I'll go for a spin on the local windy road and make some PSIs and see what happens. 18.5lbs is the torque spec for the solenoids according to the big VANOS tutorial online...I had to use a breaker bar on the passenger side one to break it loose. Also stripped another gasket bolt hole, so that's awesome.
Radiator is leaking at the core to tank O-ring. It has 5000 miles on it.
You give up on it man?

Same thing that will make you smile will make you cry. Was that a piston?
Nah, some family stuff came up and tapped out my wallet, gonna have to start scrimping and saving to keep this car on the road now instead of just indiscriminately spending money. Actually been looking for stuff around the house to sell so I can get the Zion radiator ordered before spring. Got about halfway there so far, really need someone to buy my Ducati parts on ebay!

Just need the snow to melt now
What do you all think about this fancy lug nut/stud arrangement? Too Pokey? Just enough Pokey? I'm thinking too pokey and I should trade them back for shorter ones.

Getting that radiator in was a bear, but it's mounted up. Need to re-engineer the mounting of the fan shroud and put all that stuff back together along with the new overflow tank and I should be in business to start working on the cam timing issue again.
Rotors are going on a lathe tomorrow for a final clean up.
Pretty sure I'm going to get those studs shortened up by 10mm so they sit just inside the lugnut and don't stick out so much. That looked much better in my head before I mocked one up.
Got half my new 68mm studs in, "winter" tires mounted and doing the drive/fill/drive/fill procedure now. Not a lot of traction with these skinny touring tires mounted up, makes for interesting corner exits.
Surprise! P0103 code and it won't stay running now. New radiator doesn't seem to be leaking, so that's a plus. I thought I'd get at least a day out of it before it broke again, that's what I get for thinking.
