    Looking for replacement steering box

    Hi all,
I'm in need of a replacement steering box (new or used).. even a used one I can sent to have rebuilt.
The BMW part number is 32131138858 Hydro Steering Gear Servotronic. I have done my best searching of the web and come up empty.
    Any ideas/suggestions?

pls add to your profile BMW model, type, engine , built year and month, then it is easier to help you and find the correct p/n. Also VIN would be helpful in this case. E31? 840, 850, M70, M73 etc
For example here is a reman one in Germany, Lenkgetriebe for BMW 850CSI (8054991122, ZF 290630, 132131136818, 32131138858 EURO 1489 plus core charge https://www.gts-shop.de/Lenkung/Lenk...131138858.html
    or here from USA https://parts.bmwnorthwest.com/p/BMW...131138858.html

    Sorry about that. Its a 1992 850i.
I have found this service that will rebuild a unit for $550, so I was hoping to find something cheaper than the ones you had found which are pretty pricey.

My issue is the dealer won't remove my existing unit in order for me to send it off to be rebuilt as we will be stuck on one of their lifts for the duration of the wait.

If you can’t find a box, you could buy an e32 refurbished servotronic box. Refurbished (assume just resealed/painted) go for $500-600. The ratio is different, and you need a different part # pitman arm to fit to it, but if all else fails..

This is what I fitted to my car, but I will be fitting Quick Arms to correct the ratio difference.

https://www.car-part.com/ select car part, your area, zip code and then probably you will find a used one.In case there are only leaks, there are seal kits available. there are presently 3 for E31 850, 1 $500, others you have to call

also post here in the E31 forum in the parts wanted/for sale what you want to buy, condition...., even defective, just needed as core, maybe someone has one.

Jay does not do the steering boxes, he does the pumps. Benchworks is the place for the boxes.

    CDRUSN,

    Thank you for mentioning me,
I do Leak Repair, on the '91 - e31 Hydro PS Gear Box, I replace all of the seals, and do a Lash Adjustment,
Please view my new Website Jay's BMW Parts (jaysbmwparts.com)

Most low mileage HPSGB's do not need a full rebuild, that is what the lash adjustment is all about!
It is beacuse they leak after 20 years, as the rubber o-rings loose their elasticity,
and the rubber fails to rebound, the round cross section is now egg (oval) shaped,
and it has now changed its dimension, while under compression, for 20 years!

And for Cartoonz, please review my website, my price is less than Benchworks.
