Hi All,
I have a 2013 BMW 320i with media firmware mx-003.004.031.
I'm trying to download the latest firmware and update my system because I'm having media connectivity issues.
But I can't find the update anywhere.
when I go to bmw.com/update and enter my VIN number, I get the message this message
"Congratulations, the software of your BMW is up to date. There are no actions necessary."
But I know for a fact that I don't have the latest version installed. Do you guys know where I can download the latest firmware?
Any help would highly be appreciated
How do you figure this?
These updates that you do are updates to a small portion of the system (dealing with connectivity), and they are the latest for your own system's version.
There are multiple systems (CIC, NBT, NBT Evo) with multiple firmware update levels.
We would need a LOT more info about your car in order to see what is the latest.

sorry for the late reply. I can verify because I had a newer firmware than mx-003.004.031. I installed it couple years ago. I originally downloaded it from the BMW website and booted the firmware from a USB.
Couple weeks ago, I reverted the firmware back to mx-003.004.031 because I have've having issues with playing media from phone via Blutooth.
My system has been very glitchy. Sometimes the Media plays via Bluetooth and sometimes it doesn't. I sometimes get to work by switching between Media and Aux multiple times and sometimes it doesn't work at all. which is very frustrating. However, I don't have issues making or receiving calls via Bluetooth. it works all the time
I have tried everything that i can possibly think of. Deleting all the pairs phone and repairing them, make sure Media is selected in the bluetooth settings, reset the system by pushing and holding the volume nob for 40 seconds, reverting the firmware back, etc. But I just can't seem to get the media play via Bluthooth to work properly. So the only thing that I can think of is updating my media firmware to a newer version.
I took my car to a BMW specialist and he said the only way to update the media firmware is to update the entire car software which will take couple of hours and its costy
For what it's worth, that update you are doing via flash drive is not a full module firmware update, it is for the connectivity side.
I did notice that the BMW update site had given me an UPD05081.bin file in the past, but now it's only offering UPD05074.bin. I'm unsure how that correlates to the mx-003.004.031 ID, but I know I looked at mine in the settings too.
Sometimes phone updates or app updates cause issues too.
These cars are updatable at home with an ENET cable, esys, and a bit of knowledge/experience, but for the NBT, I haven't noticed many improvements.
When I went from my trust Samsung Galaxy S8 to Galaxy S20, there were loads of improvements in bluetooth connectivity (speed and less issues) to the NBT in my wagon. In my M2C with the NBT Evo, there was no difference, it worked well with both phones.
