I just purchased a B7 and noticed it likes to drink oil. There is no smoke coming out of the exhaust at any throttle position, including wide open. This leads me to believe that all of the seals are in good standing order. The car has 45k miles on it.
Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.
I would take the car to BMW dealer and get it evaluated for oil issue. The engine maybe on recall part of class action law suite. Not sure the time limit is up, but with so low miles you may be able to get new engine under the program if oil system test fails.
ty!
As said BMW has addressed this, the tu motors are better but still designed to consume about a quart of oil every 2-4k miles sometimes higher. Its the first ever production engine to have the turbos nested inside the V of the engine so they run very hot and burn some oil safely. Just top it off when low.
