Well since the car is down in warmer climates I think I'll get someone do start replacing the 21 year old top. After 21+ years is showing it's age. Does anyone know a good installer in the Phoenix or Tucson area? I want it to look as good or better than the day it rolled off the line. Thanks was always....
When I bought my Z, I had Autobahn in Mesa do all of my initial maintenance. The owner at the time, Hans, suggested a convertible top shop that he used. Maybe Autobahn will know of a good shop. Hans sold the shop and all of old mechanics have left.

Ok. That's a start
Given all of the exotic cars\dealerships in the Phoenix metro area, one would think there would be at least one reputable interior\convertible top shop.
I'd like to have my top replaced, too, so I'm interested in your findings.

I believe that the Phoenix metropolitan area is your best bet. Been down here in the Tucson area for ten years plus & I have not stumbled across a shop that specialises in this type of work on up market autos. Earlier this year I had the style 42 wheels refinished by a shop in the Tempe area because I was not comfortable with the level of expertise in the local shops. Another aspect of the replacement is the quality of the replacement top. Perhaps someone will comment on what is available in the aftermarket as an alternative to the OEM. Personally my choice would be for an OEM. Good luck on the search & let us know what you find.
This is an update of what I was able to locate.
After doing a bunch of research and visiting an upholstery shop in the area I decided to use, "Rocky Mountain Upholstery" in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I will bring the Z back to the Springs next year before ZFest in Aspen and have them redo the top.
A quick visit to the shop and speaking with them kind of helped me decide they were the best choice. They also have done Z cars before and do a lot of exotics and resto mods here in Colorado.
There customers all seemed very pleased with the work they do. With the COVID delays they don't think they can get the rubber seal that goes along the bottom of the top and should be replaced when you replace the top until spring, so I'm hoping they can get everything before summer 2022. I will update this post in 2022 with progress.
