Can anyone confirm if a steering rack for an e36 328i is the same as (or can work on) a '95 M3?
Pictures attached of the rack (for an e36 328i)
I stumbled across this rack at a good price and will purchase and put aside for when I need it, but only if it works on the m3.
Thanks in advance for the help.

It'll work for sure.
Is it the same? I don't think so. You'll have to check real OEM or wait for someone who knows for sure. But my recollection is that it's not, though it's probably somewhat close.
It better be dirt cheap. You can find ZHP racks for $150 if you look, so I wouldn't buy it personally unless you need the car back on the road yesterday.
That does not appear to be a 328 steering rack, perhaps a 323/318 or Z3 1.9L rack that has few turns lock-to-lock.
The 1995M3 got it’s own variable ratio rack, different than the 1996+M3/328 racks. They all have a full aluminum body/case. All the E36 racks interchange in fitment.

That is an aftermarket rack. Looks the same as my AAE Z3 1.9 which would be an upgrade.
I just removed a 95 M3 rack. 170K miles. Zero issues, put in the z3 non M rack to try it out. Didn't notice the huge difference others have reported. PM me if interested.
If I get it, I'm hoping to pick it up for $100. No issues with the one on the car now, I just came across it during a search and wondered if I should pick it up as a spare (if it was worth it).
I did not know that, thanks for the info.
Would it be a noticeable upgrade or not worth it? I'm hearing the ZHP is the way to go.
I'll let you know if I need it. Thanks
