Hi all. New guy to the forum, and new guy to BMW's. I just picked up a 2008 Moroccan Blue 535i with 121k on the clock. Pretty excited to finally have a BMW and working on learning the car and it's quirks. Right now what I'm trying to understand is why I'm hearing what sounds like a bad ground buzz in the speakers when I turn left. As far as I can tell, it's only at slow speeds, like in a parking lot or residential roads, and only when turning left. It goes away at center and turning right. I've yet to thoroughly examine any chassis grounds, but would happily take advice on where to begin. I honestly have no idea if I have Active Steering or Dynamic Drive, or any of those systems. Like I said, I'm still learning about the car. I've had it a week. Anyway... Any help is much appreciated.
Jay
Welcome to the forums and to BMW! Hope you enjoy your car!
Look at your wheels and see if they are rubbing on anything on the left. Inspect all lines for power steering and if you have enough fluid and top up if necessary. I read somewhere that the reservoirs have a tiny filter and age, maybe this is causing some problems when turning left? (Just thinking out-loud). Check the suspension and the struts and the strut mounts to rule out anything mechanical. Maybe do a scan and see if something electrical popped up?
