Before VaMP defendes his boi, crashiltons fault. Could have given Max more room, and pass him on the exit...

LOL. This battle is even juicer that the HAM-VET battle of the past. Yonkers, who are you defending? lmao. HAM backed off the lap 1 encounter, MAX could've done the same on the crash.

Lets see what the stewards say, but i suspect they will rule it a race incident.

I would have called it a racing incident, but I totally get the penalty given the potential injury that could have occurred. The odd part, for me, is that sending Max into the wall at 130+ mph at Silverstone seems far more dangerous, yet Lewis got only a 10-second penalty, which turned into no penalty at all, since he won anyway.

The idea for the squeeze is to get Max to lift, or to bail out onto the curbs and cut the corner, forcing him to rejoin behind Lewis. But, Max was too far alongside, hitting the curb and bouncing into Hamilton. Could Max have lifted? Sure, but remember he’s on hot tires and Lewis has just come from the pits so tires aren’t fully up to pressure or temp. It’s inches and split-seconds that often decide whether one car, both cars, or no cars make it through a corner.

I get it. Could be seen as a racing incident, but also Max had every opportunity to back off/bail out like Hamilton did earlier and he clearly didn't even consider that option, despite likely knowing it wasn't going to work out. Even if he'd missed the orange curb, the chances of him making that corner and leaving 1+ car widths on the outside is pretty small. Neither guy left an option for the other, so they hit. Senna would be proud, which is something I say with heavy sarcasm.

I think Hamilton's penalty should have been more severe. That being said, would a hypothetical 3-spot penalty do much more than the 10-second penalty did to him? It's all speculation after the fact.

Max was alongside Hamilton. Hamilton did not leave Max enough space, was forced into sausage curb which sent him towards Ham. Ham's fault.

Don't like Hamilton praising the stewards for the penalty, saying it sets a precedent and drivers will learn.
That can bite him in the butt later on, because he does it too....

I think it is a little weird people are not talking about the condition of Max's tire, with only a couple of laps under its belt I wouldn't think it would look like that

I, for one, didn’t fully appreciate how massive the rear tires are in F1 until I compared it to the size of Hamilton’s helmet.
