Hi All, been around but not posted much. Looking for anyones thoughts about a problem I am having. My car was out of service for about 2 years due to circumstances beyond my control but was running good when I put it up. It was repainted during that time but I don't think it is the paint that is the problem.
Now that it is back on the road but is not running 100% correctly. It is very sluggish up to 3k rpm then from 3k up it seems to run well. It also throws a CEL.
I have had both fuel pumps (one was essentially dead so just replaced both) and the fuel filters replaced, replaced I think all vacuum hoses and the intake manifold gasket but still the same problem. Now I am thinking this is an MAF problem.
I plan on pulling the MAFs and cleaning them with some MAF cleaner first and see if that works. Has anyone tried this and has it worked for them?
Also I have seen multiple threads here on replacement MAFs but most are about 10 years old and it seems with very mixed results. Some say the replacement MAF worked fine others say you have to get OEM or rebuilt OEM the others (seemed like all from China back then) do not work. I found some on eBay from ASB which seems to be a German MAF company, anyone have experience with these?
Any help really appreciated!
Is one exhaust pipe putting out less exhaust than the other? If so swap MAFs and see if problem moves
Bad gas after two years, drain and refill
Test CAM Position Sensors and Crank Position Sensors from center tab to outside. One should read infinity and the other a reading, report back
Test all your Plug wires. 6K Ohms is the standard
Stomp Test for codes
CEL does it come on with the key and then go away until you start it?
Did you get your rubber boots back on the DKs? Are they Pliable?
How do you know that the fuel injectors have not become gummed/gooed/sticky internally?
Cleaning the MAF won't work. Try swapping them sides.
