Aftermarket stereo

I have a 2008 bmw 323i and the stereo needs to be replaced. I was looking to get a used one but BMW told me programming would be $350 and not guaranteed to work. I was looking on Crutchfield has anyone installed a JVC or Pioneer in a bmw with no problems? And would it screw up my display on my dash?

Hi,

You can either put in a chinese replacement type unit which sits in the lower dashboard area just beyond the gearlever and is shaped to fit into the area or, can fit a high quality brand head unit like from JVC/Pioneer/Alpine/Kenwood and use a fascia adaptor plate.

This section is a lighter on readership, so ask the question in the E9x section as well as there's perhaps more owners who've done this and can give experience, pointers and tips as well as pictures.
