Bummer.. daughter dings car could be worse

Story goes a dude in a toyota tundra circa 2008 came from middle lane to right lane... where my daighter was..

Daughter was forced to take exit and clipped concrete wall.

Creased rear panel, trunk sits up a bit now, and to drive staight requires the steering wheel to be at a 30 degree angle.

    Hope its not too bad

Ouch! Doesn't look too bad, though. A couple of years ago, a guy in a giant Expedition with no side mirror merged into my lane and I was in the leftmost side so it was either the concrete highway divider or the Expedition. I chose the car and even though the dents were mostly superficial, it was the whole side, front to rear.

Yea she is good, and thats why she is driving this e39 bmw, such a safe car. Im fairly certain i can fix it 100%.

We are both bummed! We both love this car. Maybe i can get her to help out with the body work?

If she clipped the concrete wall, the whiplash effect could have bent the tie rod in the front wheel. But in this case, the rear wheel is visibly out of whack, it has a "toe in" of around 10/15 degrees which explains the steering wheel angle.

Got the knuckle replaced, wheel bearing replaced (hub removed with race bearing driver from the rear. Held in vise) Ball joint, FYI inner race of the hub if it doesn't have burrs should slide over the rubber nicely for a good press ring.
Replaced upper front control arm and eccentric bolt just one lol.

Back in business¹ took a few days. Initial pickup from shop, car was in spec but I wasn't liking how wind and road pushed it around. So they had the master tech perform the alignment ( I suggested toeing in the front a hair, while staying in spec. Thing handles like a knife! I smiled nearly all the way home driving it

    I love this car

Subframe bushings on order for both e39s. Both undrivable for most ppl at 80+mph.

Not worried about body or tail light lol until it's drivable. Been putting 140 miles a day on it and it's a bit squirlly with wind and road forces

I'll be driving my e34 lol. The one with an engine rattle. Haven't swapped it yet as I've started a new job and I'm finishing a room into an apartment.

Definitely a Chinese child that gets whipped all day long. If you ask me, they’re not whipped hard enough. Too many inconsistencies in quality. I deal with the whippers through email on a daily basis. Funny thing, the people I deal with have names like Lancy, Lily, Michael, Tony, and the one that cracks me up the most, goes by the name of Synclair, lol!

Well, you can look the other way as much as you want, but as long as the world is more than happy to keep buying cheap products made in China, child labor will continue, it is sad, and I shouldn’t be joking about it, but I’ve gotten numb to it all.

Jackass! One of these days, all of the good guys on here are gonna have to get together, go on a long drive in all our cars, I’ll bring tools, we’ll get FCPeuro, or ECS to have a van full of spare parts follow us around the country, stopping at all the good local breweries.
