For a 1986 model is there a way to tell which engine you have from visual inspection alone?
I realize if you drive the vehicle it would be apparent due to low revving of the eta engine.

M20B27 = 325e
I did not read the linked thread, however there was a higher compression “I” head/intake system ‘era’ engine in 1988 called the ‘Super eta”, featuring a higher RPM limit.
The pre-1988 ‘eta’ engines topped out at ~ 4500 RPM.
In 1986, the ‘eta’ engine tachometer indicates the low redline for the ‘eta’ engine line.
