My car throttle position switch was ordered from USA BMW dealer brand new came with the housing. There is an adjustment on throttle position switch can be move up and down no more than 4mm only that degree angle change the voltage return signal to the TCU pin 7. I noticed when car idling for half an hour it shifts better but not as should be. There is two issues in oil and in switch box. Oil a bit like a close to differential gear oil not like a spring water which can flow faster through the valve body channels. Switch box could have sticking valve inside I'm going to change switch box to another refurbished.

Adaptive shift-quality control uses information of environment of weather conditions when raining or sunny days it makes shifting different such as changes in the transmission to improve the quality of shifts. This system can also adjust shift smoothness to suit driving style crisper shifts aggressive driving or smoother shifts for normal driving.

AM switch beside gears selector. A switch for adapt shift using environment for smooth shifting. M switch is to lock the gear in to 3rd if selector is set to position D or 3rd gear. This driving option not pick up speed faster than A mode switch. How to make automatic transmission TCU adapt to the engine ECU ? Adaptive shift-quality control such as changes in the transmission to improve the quality of shifts. This system can also adjust shift smoothness to suit driving style crisper shifts aggressive driving or smoother shifts for normal driving.
1.Clearing TCU codes
2.Default tranny settings
3.Throttle readaptation critical when doing any tranny or engine work. The ecu and tcu works together on many things. clear ecu also for engine work.
1.Key on don't start just turn the car on
2.Gas down to floor for 10 sec
3.While holding gas, turn key off
4.Let go of gas
5.Key on again gas down to floor for 10 sec while holding gas turn key off don't start wait for 5 min for throttle readaptation. Touch nothing.
6.Then start while touching nothing.
7.Drive and see what happens.
its uncommon to have to do this over and over because you make small changes and forget to reset yet again. Make one last change forget the final reset, then give up and shoot the car with a shotgun. So for those that missed it *always reset last !

In car A/M switch. When I ordering online program switch for my car it shows 3 program switch option S/E/M. 750il also has 2 program switch with adaptive TCU. 3 program switch will work with 4 solenoid valve body ?

Yesterday noticed when gear shift from first to second gear it fills like a delay.
Last edited by Annddrriy; 12-11-2023 at 01:37 AM. Reason: Gear
Selector is set to position D shifted to second gear from first gear and seems to be like first gear still engaged when 2 seconds gear is already on or both gears engaged. If second gear engaged why it need forward gear to be engaged ? The forward gear clutch A always must be engaged to move vehicle forward.

What does shielded wire to speed sensor two wires mean ?
Last edited by Annddrriy; 01-02-2022 at 05:38 PM.
you cannot compare E32 735 and 750 wiring, they are different. M70 does not have a TPS installed like your M30 as all is fly-by-wire system http://www.europeantransmission.com/...MW/EML-BMW.pdfOriginally Posted by Annddrriy
also the DMEs are different, you have M1.3 and the 1991 M70 has M1.7 with 88 pins, the older M1.2 and M1.3 have much less pins.
A shielded wire is a wire which has been covered with protective sheathing to reduce the amount of electromagnetic radiation which it emits. This is designed to reduce the amount of electromagnetic interference (EMI) associated with that wire.

Total pins 6 on TPS on diagram has 3 wire coming from and those 3 more wires is a shield ? Or 3 pins in TPS not in used ?

Do you have TCU pinout for E32 1990 same like for motronic 1.3 ?
Last edited by Annddrriy; 01-02-2022 at 10:38 PM.
Which production month 1990? should be in here, maybe you have to check the wiring diagram for each pin of the TCU https://shark.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/BMW/e32/
pay attention to production month, for example the 1990 ETM is from 06/1989 - 08/1990
this only has early E-7 and E-7 http://www.europeantransmission.com/...MWtechinfo.htm
see ETM how the 6 wires are connected, also google for shielded wires, that explains it.The plug going to the CPS also has the pin identification numbersOriginally Posted by Annddrriy

02/1990 BMW E32 735iA M30 B35 Thanks ! Some wires goes to ECU from TCU. I am trying to understand how A/M and S/E/M switches works. I noticed 3 position switch has 6 wires of one extra solenoid for E7 version 5 solenoids and 2 position switch has 5 wires only same like 750 model also has E9 version 4 solenoids and pinout a bit different pin #3 grounded from program switch and 735 program switch pin#3 go to TCU pin#6 than TPS pin#2. Why I ask someone post it TCU has missing ground on pin#6 of 1991 750iL TCU. Maybe in my car TCU also some ground missing.

Page 2465-02 it shows you that just a checking virtually on diagram but when you doing the job in real there is pin #6 is not grounded. Why is like that I don't know. I am trying to understand how it works those two program mode between each other for me is difficult am newbie in this. I am planning to buy scan tool Snap-On one its has lots great feature for diagnostic also has olisoscope build in. Snap-On doing good job. Also I am looking a bit more torque to input shaft to shifts from forward gear through to third gear by adjusting somehow torque convertor pressure flow to coupling components. My car a bit slow at pick up speed I can press accelerator a bit more but this is not works this way. First 3 gears not using torque convertor clutch lock up solenoid last 4th gear does. I don't need more torque in 4th gear just 3 forward gears only that's all. Thanks in advance for your answer ! Happy New Year 2022 !

This early E-7 do not give me full details of pins for E-9 version there is few pins locate different I don't think there is more upgrade few pins removed from E-9 version. Program switch E-7 has 6 pins in use and E-9 has 5 pins in use only. I don't know what is in my car pinout no info about E-9 version as this is not that complicated transmission as other 6 speed transmission pinout but those two control units pin terminal identification early E-7 version should be ok to find out. Thank You !

Impeller has a lots vanes inside and spin by engine crankshaft creates pressure by oil pump to move transmission fluid. Turbine is forced to rotate by pressurized fluid from impeller. Transmission input shaft connected by splines with turbine than connected to forward gears clutch "A" and more gears except 4th gear. Input shaft 4th gear is a last gear connected by splines with lock up clutch. Input shafts has two splines one is small diameter splines shaft for lock up clutch and another one is big diameter splines shaft for turbine. When engine running 750 RPM at idle car not moving selector gear is set to position D. Is this stall speed ? Thanks ! Lower picture not correct.

What is Stall Speed?
Stall speed is the speed at which the converter holds back or limits the engine speed if the transmission output is prohibited. When your torque converter prevents the power transfer from your engine to your transmission, it increases the engine’s RPM stalls. For example, when you press down on your gas pedal, the stall speed is the gap between where your vehicle idles and begins to move. The more stall speed you have, the more pressure you have to put on the gas pedal before your car begins to move.
https://revmaxconverters.com/part-un...-stall-speeds/
In other words, stall speed is the engine RPM at which the torque converter transfers the power of the engine to the transmission. In the real world, the torque converter’s stall speed roughly equates to the clutch engagement point on a manual transmission.

auto lockup and torque converter pics
we had a torque converter rebuilt here locally and the shop took some photos. The symptoms were slippage under sudden strong acceleration and occasional juddering looks as if the clutch material had completely disintegrated and it was direct steel on steel contact. close up of lockup surface

I got your point. The less stall speed I have the less pressure I have to put on the gas pedal before my car begins to move. Is possible to make adjustment for stall speed when selector is set to position D brakes are release fluid flow from impeller to turbine makes torque rotation to forward clutch pack. Rear wheels not moving. Set less stall speed adjustment by valve body settings ?

If settings not available in valve body. Another possible adjustment stator angle vane upgrade to direct fluid flow from impeller to turbine to make better torque rotation.

why do you not first of all check the normal function of the system instead of modifications?
Ever tested the pump pressure?
The workshop manual tells us for 4HP22/24 on page 24-00/3
connect hose with pressure gauge
remove pertinent plugs for pressure control testing on the transmission
1. pump pressure
2. clutch A
3. converter pressure
pump pressure
install adapter with seal on transmission
install adapter for converter pressure
pump pressure
position D, gear 1 , speed 700 - 1000 RPM, pressure 6.0-7.5 bar
position D, gears 2,3,4, approx 4000 RPM, 4.6 - 5.8 bar
position R, reverse, 700-1000 RPM, 11-13 bar
converter pressure
position D, 4th gear, converter locked, max. 0.7 bar
check, correct oil level with selector lever at P and engine running at idle speed.
car parked at level floor
the oil level should not be below ball 1 at the dipstick after a test drive and ATF temperature of approx. 40 DC. The oil level should be between the min and max marks at ATF temperature of approx. 80 degree C. Amount of ATF between min and max = approx 0.3 liter.
ATF level too high: strong foaming, ATF splash loss, high temperature when driving test, ATF lost via vent.
ATF level too low: valves rattling, foaming, engine slipping while driving in curves, general operating disturbances.

Transmission oil pump is brand new was ordered from BMW dealer. Pump pressure is beautiful has been checked with transmission mechanic. Mechanic couldn't find the problem why gears not shift good. He did not check what another guy did with valve body when he was repaired. may be he put it wrong spring in valve body lower front or lower rear casting bore. Looks like something is wrong. After 10.000 km oil pan was removed from the transmission there was lots material from friction plate. After 10.000 km oil pan was removed from the transmission and checked there was lots material on the magnet from friction plate. Also he put it to much oil inside and oil was overflow from the breather on top back side of the transmission.
He said dipstick is not correct needs to put right dipstick. Dipstick has two marks on it you can't miss that marks its original dipstick with lock clip on top. It was over fill 1 liter oil. When I drained oil last time to change oil filter after 10.000 km still was over fill 1.5L. Came out one full gallon from oil pan. Gallon has 4.5L than I put it back on that oil into transmission. Mechanic said must be more oil because oil dipstick not correct. How much oil has to come out from oil pan ? 3 liters correct ?

If you have lots of friction material and metal from the clutch steels in the pan, your trans has pretty much had it. Adaptations are not going to compensate for that. Even if it is serviced on a regular basis, a 30 year old trans is unlikely to last forever. The end may be hastened by allowing it to overheat or allowing the ATF level to fall below normal. Yes, the chart shows the 4HP22 takes 3 litres of ATF excluding the TC. In practise, it is wise to follow the filling procedure
How should be install stator in torque convertor ? Stator blades should be facing opposite angle of turbine blades. Stator can not put wrong side ?
What stall speed could be when stator install wrong way in torque convertor ? Stall speed become high or low or very high at idle when gear selector is set to position drive ?
