Hi, I have a 2014 335i with the basic headunit (no nav) and recently it started to die on me. It is stuck on on BMW screen and I lost radio, Bluetooth, and settings, etc. I've been reading that this often means the head unit needs to be replaced. Is this certain? I've seen that it is pretty easy to swap out but how would I get it programmed? Any help would be appreciated.

I would pull the battery ground for 30-60 seconds first and then reconnect it, and test.
Note, you'll have to enter in the time and date in the car again after this.

The other issues is these cars runs on a fiber optic system, and if one of the modules is out of whack, it will bring the whole system down. The best way is to see if you can connect to the car using ISTA+ to do a full scan to see which module isn't talking.

They got rid of most of the fiber optic system for diag communication on these F chassis and newer. That was a crazy E chassis thing.
There still are some fiber optic items, but it's not the same, they're not used for diag or flashing.
Ethernet based cars have faster diag and programming than the MOST system.
