    lost for sizing

    Hello everyone,

So i recently purchased a '88 735i has the stock rims and tires on it... some 15inch tiny wheels i think style 2s? anyways only reason im not putting new tires on those 15inch tires is because I can't get any for a reasonable amount of money where I live, and I have a on cost dealer connection.

So I recently bought some 16inch style 5s from a E38, looks like the guy was running 235/60/16 in the rear and 225/60/16 in the front. Fit mint looks great but not stock, and im looking for stock finish ride hight.

So my question is, in an attempt to prevent anything rubbing and to get some modern rubber on this E32, what tire size should i be running all round the car, same size as what i just got on the car? or should be going 225/60/16 at all four corners? or something different all together?

new to the forums so if this question has been gone over id appreciate a link, thank you for your time

According to tirerack an '88 735i on 16" wheels would get 225/55-16. What you have has 11 mm larger overall radius/ride height. Not -that- far off. No idea about offset differences on the wheels. Very likely there is room to go wider if that is your thing.

I need to take a long look at the front wheel figment. might go with that 55 hight. i really dont want to hear any scraping of rubbing from the inner wheel well or fender lip. Either way thank you!

According to my recent research (for my 1986 e28 535i - should be quite similar, no?)
    BBS Basketweave Style 5 from M5 e28 / 7.5J x 16 et20.
This wheel should be an ideal stock replacement for your 735i, and a very versatile easy size to fit a variety of tires - just choose the overall diameter & section width relative to whatever OEM was.
Double check your actual offset (ISxx) in mm usually cast into the back of the spokes.
