I recently read somewhere that manufacturers put VIN no. identification labels on all major parts, such as all doors, hood, fenders, rear hatch etc., at the time of building a new car, so that when you buy a used car, you can see if any major part has been replaced. I was not aware of this. I had bought my 2002 Honda Odyssey used, and so I decided to check. Luckily, i found that all the major parts had their original label.
However, when i looked at my 2005 X3, which I bought new, I could not find such labels on any of the major parts. Since I bought it new, I know for a fact that nothing was replaced, but if someone were to buy the car from me, how would they be sure that I did not replace any major body part (e.g. say due to an accident).
Finally, does the engine and transmission also have a VIN stamp?
thanks in advance for replies.
This would have would not matter at all if you sold the car you are over thinking this, relax and have a beer. You know who is going to ask you this when you sell it, no one,it’s a 2005 x3
