Hi, I apologize upfront if I'm posting in the wrong section but I couldn't find any specific g20 threads.
In any case I appreciate any help. I am looking to buy a 2020 320d and the car looks brand new of course. I noticed one odd thing under the hood. One of the turbo casing parts seems to have rust but nothing else does.
Here's the photo:
I ran VIN number at the official BMW service and they have no info of any repairs, the car has 1st service scheduled tomorrow so I asked the owner to check with the service what that could be. But he's looking to sell the car so I am not sure if I can totally rely on any info he'll give me. One of my friends is a car mechanic and he said it shouldn't be anything strange because some of those parts are not protected but it still feels very strange to me - everything looks new except this one little part.
So thank you in advance for any advice.
It's not strange at all. Turbine housings/turbo parts are often times cast steel or cast iron and without a ceramic coating (and even then, sometimes still) they corrode with moisture/humidity in the air as well as getting extremely hot, etc.
