Are there any tips to separating the transmission from the engine after removing all the bolts?
Wiggle, pry gently, make sure you've got ALL the bolts out, and that you're pulling straight out. Mine seemed stuck, then, suddenly, it came out.
There are two studs that corrode over time.... best you can do is keep wriggling until they let loose.... if you can get a gap started, then a pry bar, gently. Clean those studs and corresponding holes before reinstalling will make it easier to get it back together.
Lime Rock Park... the most fun you can have in a mile and a half.
Make sure the weight is properly supported too and don't drop it on your buddy's chest... The manual only weighs about 90 lbs so it's not too bad, but still

Ensure the starter is off of the bellhousing. It sticks. Wack is forward with a brass punch etc.
Are you sure you removed all the bolts?????? They like to hide a small one on the bottom and a 10mm bolt on the blockplate side under the rear exhaust manifold.
I just took mine out (again... sad story). Since it had been out recently, it almost fell out this time. I put the tranny jack just touching the tranny, so I could wiggle it, while I pryed gently with a roofing-nail crowbar (example: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Estwing-15-...B&gclsrc=aw.ds )
