New chip and 6400 rev limit

Recently picked up an eBay chip. Was $30, good reviews, figured what the hay... Might work, probably wont. If it raises my rev limit I'll be happy.

Now, the add lists a 7K rpm limit.

Gave it a test the other day. Car runs well, no CEL. But it looks like it's hitting the limiter around 6,400. Spoke with the seller, and he was wondering if my cluster is reading correctly. Now I've never heard of that being a problem, but thought I'd ask if anyone else might have?

    Car is a '92 325is, 5-speed with 402DME.
