Oil Question

I have an 03 Z4 and I previously owned a 2000 Z3. In both vehicles I have used Castrol 5W-30 A3/B4 for Euro vehicles. I use it because I read somewhere that BMW's require it. I have only been able to find this on Amazon and it sells for about $43 for a 5qt jug. The guy at Auto Zone said they have the A5/B5 Castrol Full Synthetic. Is there truly a difference that matters? Also, he said they have their own brand of full synthetic in A3/B4. Does BMW really need Castrol? Please let me know what you guys use and why. Thanks a lot.

As long as it meets or exceeds the euro spec required for the engine it doesn’t need to be Castrol….

Euro specification oil has a higher shear point than north american car spec’d oil… It’s necessary /required by the higher reving engine(s)….
