Yeah, that's nuts and not really a good buy imo (not that I'm against the prices going up).
Couldn't have enjoyed it more myself
Damn, that almost makes me want to sell my heap. Almost~
One of the last remaining members of the E36 M3 original owners club...a dying breed indeed.
$33K for that? WTF...
Turbo E36 M3 with all the things..
Holy moly. Salad days are over!

A 1999 Fern Green on Sand Beige with 137,000 miles, accident history and a horrible interior refinish sold for $19.5k USD. Glad I picked up my Fern on Beige before these prices got really wild!

exactly, we're the crazy og m3 guys, always thinking in relation to our baby's... If that one went for $33k then mine must be... haha. Just from the pics you can easily find $8k or more in upkeep that ideally needs to be done to that car to bring it to proper level 5 spec. At the end of the day though it is a decent example with dry undercarriage, good body and lines, clean battery tray, above average interior. If someone want to pay that it's all cool.. and if all the 2000 era Integra Type R's are over $30k then the M3 should be at least that.
Yeah this was crazy. I’ve been contemplating redoing the magma Vader’s on my fern green car but most of the covers look so....so....non-oem. Then throw in the variability of installer and I could be making crappy seats look very crappy.
I’ve been holding out on used magma Vader’s for over 2 years since I think a little patina is fine on solid used units. To compound matters, my seats are electric but I’m thinking I may be able to cannibalize the ones I buy for the cushions only.
The wait continues but with prices the way they are I’m admittedly tempted to sell.

I think we all like seeing these prices creep up even though we have no intention in selling. I plan to keep my M3 for as long as possible - even if it means rebuilding the engine later down the line. There's something special about E36's and I would hate to sell mine and never be able to find a good example again (without paying something exorbitant).

Very well said. I was planning to buy an e36 M3 in 2016 but got distracted by a Mini. Two years later in 2018 the right M3 came up for sale, a bit rusty, but with all options I wanted, perfect for a I don't care if I beat on it daily driver. I've addressed the rust and put, 35k miles on it. I am confident I could sell it for a decent profit with how the market for them is going. E36s M3s are brilliant cars and they aren't making any more of them, demand will likely only go up from here for many years to come.
I've been interviewing for a product manager job with Porsche, and my wife once or twice has asked if I'll cry if I get the job and have to sell my car because I'll have a company car.
I told her no - because I'm not selling it no matter what.
No one with all the upkeep / reinforcement work is selling their car, and I have no interest in trading for anything - even a low mileage car - that would require me to start over.
Why spend a decade making it perfect for me only to start over from scratch?
-Josh: 1998 S54 E36 M3/4/6 with most of the easy stuff and most of the hard stuff. At least twice. 271k miles. 1994 E32 740il with nothing but some MPars. 93k miles.
New owner is thrilled with car.
My car is too modified to really get sold and I have no intention to ever sell mine as well....which makes it tough to add to the fleet, unfortunately. That color combo getting that high of a selling price is nuts to me though.

Lol! Both my wife and I work in the auto industry and have had company cars. I can assure you all the auto enthusiasts have other fun cars that aren't of the same brand. When I was working for Mercedes-Benz, I drove my modded E36 328is to work and everyone loved it. Hope you got the job!
I agree though, most people who have put money and time into their E36 M3's have done so with the intent on keeping it for a long time. They're amazing driving machines and newer cars just don't have the same feel unfortunately (wow that makes me sound old).
