    S50B32 injector Question

Hey everyone, I have a BMW shop and we have an E30 touring in here with a S50B32 parts and information are a bit hard to come by over here so I'm hoping I can get some help from you guys.

The car came in running rough and has injector faults (only store while the engine is running):
    4 - Fuel Injector cyl#3
    33- Fuel Injector cyl#4

We checked the wiring from the injectors to DME, its ok. Swapped injectors to different cylinders and no change, so we suspect there is an issue with the DME. We have acquired another DME to test with (Mark D'Sylva is going to do an EWS delete on it for our use).

BUT in the meantime we found that (3) of the injectors are not BMW and look like the cross reference to a Ford model. From what I can find online they have a similar spec as the BMWs, but not 100% the same. We want to change the injectors to a matching set, looking at the parts diagram I saw the S50 injectors supersede to the same injectors as a S62. We got (6) S62 injectors and attempted to install them and they do not bolt in as the S62 injectors are shorter.

Now it looks like we could modify the injector rail and make them work, but before we start modifying is there something we are overlooking? Should we just get (3) S50 injectors and call it a day, make the S62 injectors work or something completely different?

Thanks for any and all help, George Hill

Don't modify anything. Get the same injectors so they match in flow rate etc....

    https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...40-13641405044

Double check the part numbers of the others to make sure you're getting the same part. bosch 0280150792

If you can't get a specific part here in the U.S. then go to: https://www.schmiedmann.com/en/catn-ol?q=%0913641405044

I assume the engine is stock.

    Jim,
Thanks for the reply. I figured out the S62 injector issue. The early non-us S62s DID use the 044 injector but was later superseded to the 13641407938
    https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=13641405044

When they changed the injector they also changed the fuel rail respectively, but there isn't an option for that with the S50s which is what I have now discovered.

The goal is to spend my customers money wisely. Buying (3) new injectors at minimum $180 usd each plus then having our current ones serviced is an expensive venture which is why I was looking for more cost effective options IF they are available.

Yes, the long block is stock, but it has a modified exhaust and intake to fit the E30 chassis.

We have since installed a known good DME and deleted the EWS, it runs now without the injector faults so it looks like the original DME has some kind of internal fault. We are now looking for a DME and injectors as the next step in sorting this car out.
