Hey all,
I had purchased a replacement tweeter for my 92 e30 vert to replace one with a broken clip and promptly broke the clip when attempting to install. I feel like there has to be a secret to this, right?
Any advice always appreciated!
no idea here. mine always had broken clips on them too.
No e30s again.
i think i used double sided tape
No e30s again.
I've had good luck using hot glue and/or epoxy to secure speakers to door cards.
Always heat these parts up with a heat gun, or at least a hair dryer, to soften them before taking them on and off. This will lessen the chances of breaking those plastic clips. Notorious for interior trim on all cars.
Even the 'new' trim parts have probably been sitting on a shelf in the BMW warehouse since last manufactured in 1995, so they get more and more brittle as each year passes.
What I have done, and you can also, (gasp if you want) , is drill a 3/16” hole right where that tab is broken off. Then use a #6 or #8 x 1/2” stainless steel pan/round head sheet metal/all purpose screw to hold it on. I suppose you could use a black one too but I like stainless. Note I did not say a drywall screw
