I purchased a pair of Federal 595 SS tires from Walmart about 8 months ago for the rear of my 07 z4. Immediately I noticed a wiggle or shimmy in the rear of the car. I took the tires back and had the balance checked and all was well. The movement continued, especially over rough roads, with tire groves in them. I recently replaced the rear trailing arm bushings in hopes this would end the movement. Now the rear still moves, but not as drastic as before. My conclusion is that it must be the tires, in that I had no issues prior to putting these on the car. The rear tires I replaces had a more "normal" tread pattern and I did not experience any movements. I had plans of putting the Federal 595 tires on the front as well when it comes time to replace them, but now I am having serious doubts that these tires are appropriate. Any information on these tires would be helpful. I do not use the car for any type of road racing, just normal driving... thanks
With tires, like many other commodities, are “you get what you pay for.” Personally, I buy tires made by either Michelin or Bridgestone.
I put a set of these tires, 225/45, on 17x8 X3 wheels on my '99 E36 convertible. I had them on a 2018 Fiat Spider Abarth, and on both cars, they're fine. At least from my experience in using them. It's a pretty good tire for the money.
